Medical center marking National Volunteer Month

April is National Volunteer Month and Greene County Medical Center Auxiliary members were  recently recognized for their commitment to local care.

Since being founded 64 years ago, the Auxiliary has raised more than $600,000 for the medical center to be used in support of  equipment purchases, programs, scholarships and for the benefit of patients, community members and staff alike.

The mix of active and lifetime members donate hours of their time to operating the Gift Garden in the main lobby of the medical center, hosting fundraisers and providing general support as needed.

Pictured (front, from left) are medical center auxiliary members Connie Allensworth, Kim Brawn, Joyce Kurth and Rhetta Wright; and (back, from left) Lynda Cochran, Deana McDonald, Paula Shriver, and Nancy Scheffers, and medical center foundation director Nancy Houska.

SHIIP (Senior Health Insurance Information Program) volunteers at Greene County Medical Center play a crucial role in  assisting county residents with Medicare planning. They provide unbiased support for those working to navigate the  complexities of the Medicare system and in selecting plans that meet their individual needs. Not only do they assist  during the open enrollment period each year, they host educational seminars for those who will be applying for Medicare in the coming months.

Please take a minute to thank these hard-working and selfless individuals who are dedicated to the healthcare systems in our communities and all of the people served.
